Knowlton Society represents the 3 disciplines of Knowlton and beyond as one cohesive force. Our story, mission, and pillars are central to who we are and what we do to serve Knowlton's constituents.
OUR VISION
KS' vision is a community that fosters cross-disciplinary cohesion, student achievement, and socially conscious purpose amongst the Knowlton Sections, College of Engineering and allied arts. In collective effort, students in design disciplines will leave Ohio State highly valued and empowered to enact lasting change in the built environment.

KS' mission is to thoughtfully engage with the student body, faculty, staff, administration, and relevant stakeholders of the Knowlton School to uphold our pillars of advocacy, community, and student empowerment.

Our inception is based off data, precedent, and a desire for more.

A building, some stairwells, and orange paint.
Since the construction of our home, Knowlton Hall, back in 2004, art that encapsulated the character of Knowlton and its inhabitants littered the stairwells across the building.
This was a fragment of school culture that persisted for 2 decades.
In October of 2023, it all changed.
Students began expressing solidarity with the people of Palestine by writing phrases associated with the resistance.
"Free Palestine"
"End the Genocide"
"From the River to the Sea,"
Ohio State has historically censored Palestinian voices and attempted to stifle student organization in favor of the movement.
So, they silenced us--with bright orange paint.
Soon after, the Knowlton Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Access committee hosted a World Cafe to collect data and host conversations with stakeholders of the Knowlton School in the wake of the event.
A small group of multidisciplinary students across all levels translated this data into action.
We identified a multitude of needs:
